STRUCTURED BIO-PTOELECTRONIC DEVICES BY PHYSICAL VACUUM DEPOSITION OF ORGANIC PIGMENTS

A hands-on workshop on fabrication of bio-optoelectronic devices based on hydrogen bonded pigments as the active layers. Organic electrolytic photocapacitors based on metal free phthalocyanine H2PC and perylene derivative PTCDI will be fabricated by vacuum thermal evaporation on glass/ITO substrates. Thickness of the active layers will be controlled by the quartz crystal microbalance. Methods of substrate cleaning and activation, as well as the active material deposition and shadow mask structuring will be demonstrated.
